Castilla-La Mancha to unify regional laboratory information systems

The Castilla-La Mancha health service (SESCAM) is implementing a unified Regional Laboratory Information System (SILR) to connect clinical laboratories across the region. This technological overhaul will allow for the end-to-end tracking of medical tests, from the initial physician request through extraction, transport, analysis, and final validation, until the results are integrated into the patient's clinical history.

The new system will unify data across various disciplines, including Biochemistry, Hematology, Microbiology, and Genetics, replacing the current fragmented use of different applications and procedures with a single multi-center database. This will enable authorized professionals to access and work with information regardless of which hospital processed the sample.

Werfen España S.A.U. has been awarded the contract for 2,174,024.16 euros (excluding VAT), which is approximately 13.5% below the initial maximum budget of 3,040,286 euros. The 48-month project is funded by European Recovery, Transformation, and Resilience Plan resources. Key participating facilities include the Hospital General Universitario de Albacete, Hospital Universitario Nuestra Señora del Perpetuo Socorro, and general hospitals in Almansa, Hellín, and Villarrobledo.
