Castilla-La Mancha triples disability sports licenses since 2018
The number of sports licenses for athletes with physical, mental, or sensory disabilities in Castilla-La Mancha has tripled since 2018. The region now hosts more than 51 clubs dedicated to inclusive sports.
Carlos Yuste, the Director General of Youth and Sports, announced that the regional government has allocated over 2.7 million euros to disability sports since 2019, representing a 117 percent increase compared to that year. In the last fiscal year alone, more than 750,000 euros were provided to clubs, federations, and athletes.
These figures were shared during the second edition of the Castilla-La Mancha Wheelchair Basketball Trophy held at the Manzanares Arena. The tournament final featured BSR Puertollano and BSR Amiab Albacete, with the champion receiving 3,000 euros and the runner-up 1,500 euros.
