Spain expands waste recycling with new mobile clean points and electric trucks
Cantabria has applied to send up to 5,797 tonnes of selectively collected bio‑waste to the Cogersa anaerobic digestion plant in Asturias each year, a collaboration that will run until the end of 2029 to offset the region’s lack of processing capacity.
In Valladolid, the city council inaugurated three electric mobile clean‑point trucks funded with €811,051 from EU Next Generation funds, aiming to replace aging vehicles and eliminate emissions while handling up to 23 waste streams.
Castilla y León’s regional government announced a €25 million investment to deploy additional mobile clean‑point stations and electric trucks across Ávila, serving about 82,000 residents in 241 municipalities and introducing digital tools for waste tracking.
The provincial deputation of Cáceres signed a contract to modernise waste collection in 12 municipalities of Trasierra–Tierras de Granadilla, adding new collection trucks and 617 sensor‑equipped containers that monitor fill levels in real time, alongside an EcoEventos programme for sustainable event waste management.
