Castilla y León announces driving license subsidies for youth

The regional government of Castilla y León has announced a subsidy program to assist young people in obtaining Class B driving licenses. Managed by the Ministry of Mobility, Digital Transformation, and Artificial Intelligence, the initiative has an initial budget of four million euros, which could potentially double to meet demand.

Applications can be submitted from October 1, 2026, until January 15, 2027. The program is open to residents aged 18 to 30 who have been registered in any municipality within the region for at least five years. To qualify, candidates must obtain their license between October 1, 2026, and December 31, 2026, complete their training at driving schools within the community, and commit to residing in Castilla y León for at least three years following the application.

Grant amounts are tiered based on the household income relative to the IPREM (Public Multiple Effects Income Indicator). Subsidies can reach up to 900 euros for lower-income households, with subsequent tiers of 750, 600, and 450 euros. The program aims to improve youth employability, facilitate access to services like education and healthcare, and encourage population retention in the region.
