Castilla y León promotes rural development through gastronomy, wine, and agriculture

The Castilla y León region is implementing various initiatives to bolster its rural economy and traditional sectors. The 25th edition of the Buscasetas gastronomic-mycological sessions is set to take place from October 31 to November 15, featuring 149 establishments and showcasing the versatility of mushroom species paired with award-winning wines from the Rueda and Ribera del Duero regions.

In the agricultural sector, regional authorities are focusing on improving genetic quality and reducing bureaucratic burdens for livestock farmers. Recent meetings in Ávila emphasized the importance of animal health, biosecurity, and genetic advancement to enhance the competitiveness of extensive farming and native breeds.

Additionally, the region has established a robust wine tourism network consisting of nine certified routes, including Arlanza, Bierzo, and Ribera del Duero. This network attracts over 600,000 enotourism visitors annually, providing a vital secondary income stream for rural communities by connecting wineries with local heritage and natural landscapes.
