Castilla y León forms new regional government under PP‑Vox coalition

Alfonso Fernández Mañueco, president of the Junta of Castilla y León, announced on 13 June the composition of the new government for the XII Legislature, two days after taking office. The coalition between the People's Party (PP) and Vox will control three ministries and one of the two vice‑presidencies. The first vice‑presidency (Desregulation, Family and Social Aid) is assigned to Vox’s Carlos Pollán Fernández, while the second vice‑presidency (Housing, Territorial Planning, Equality, Depopulation and Civil Protection) goes to Isabel Blanco Llamas. Other ministries include Economy and Treasury (Carlos Fernández Carriedo), Industry‑Universities‑Employment‑Commerce (Juan Carlos Suárez‑Quiñones), the newly created Environment‑Energy portfolio (María González Corral), Mobility‑Digital Transformation‑AI (Cristina Sanchidrián), Agriculture‑Livestock‑Rural Policy (Joaquín Antonio Pino, Vox), Health‑Social Welfare (Alejandro Vázquez Ramos) and Education (María Pardo Álvarez). The Culture, Tourism and Sports ministry is held by José Alberto Díaz Pico (Vox).

Among the appointments, Alberto Díaz Pico, a former legal officer, military auditor and Vox candidate in Valladolid, was named minister of Culture, Tourism and Sports. He previously served as secretary‑general of the regional industry ministry and held various legal‑military positions. The new cabinet will be sworn in on 15 June at the Presidency of the Junta.
