Castilla y León government creates pool of 1,243 interim municipal secretaries and appoints new secretaries‑general

The Junta of Castilla y León has established a second provincial pool of 1,243 interim secretaries‑interventors to temporarily staff municipalities with fewer than 5,000 inhabitants. The first call for these positions will take place on Monday 22 June. The pool is divided into two sections: 303 candidates from the National Institute of Public Administration and 940 professionals who completed the regional access course or were exempted under the 2022 decree. The measure aims to maintain administrative continuity in small towns, which account for 97 % of the region’s municipalities.

In a separate ceremony, the regional government swore in new secretaries‑general for several ministries. Vice‑president Carlos Pollán presided over the oath of Santiago Díez Martínez as secretary‑general of Desregulation, Family and Social Services, and welcomed incoming secretaries‑general María del Valle Ares González (Education) and Marta Álvarez Palenzuela (Culture, Tourism and Sport). Outgoing secretary‑general Carlos Raúl de Pablos was honored for his years of service. The officials pledged loyalty to the King, the Constitution and the Statute of Autonomy, underscoring a commitment to “responsibility, enthusiasm and work.”
