Castilla y León honors citizen protection and emergency services

The Junta de Castilla y León held an official ceremony in Baltanás to present the 2025 Medals for Merit in Citizen Protection. The awards recognize the dedication of professionals and volunteers in emergency services, health, and law enforcement.

In Zamora, the Diputación de Zamora’s Fire Prevention, Extinction, Salvage, and Civil Protection Service received an honorable mention for its rapid intervention capabilities. Additionally, the Zamora City Council’s Fire Prevention, Extinction, and Salvage Service was honored for its decisive actions during critical forest fire campaigns in areas such as Porto and Puercas.

In Soria, the Motonieve Urbión Association from Covaleda was awarded the Gold Medal for its 35 years of service in search, rescue, and salvage operations, particularly in the Pinares de Soria region where snow often complicates access for other emergency means.
