Castilla y León inflation rises to 4.7% in August

Inflation in Castilla y León reached an annual rate of 4.7% in August 2026, according to definitive data from the National Statistics Institute (INE). This figure is 0.4 percentage points higher than the Spanish national average, which rose to 4.3%.

In the region, only Cantabria (5.1%) and Galicia (4.8%) recorded higher inflation rates. The national increase was driven largely by the transport sector, which saw a year-on-year rise of over three points to 9.5%, primarily due to increased prices for fuels and lubricants for private vehicles.

While the national consumer price index rose, core inflation—which excludes unprocessed foods and energy products—decreased slightly by 0.1%, settling at 2.9%.
