Castilla y León joins Cohorte IMPaCT national health study

Castilla y León has integrated its first 1,500 participants into the Cohorte IMPaCT, a major national health research study in Spain. The long-term project aims to monitor 200,000 people across the country over the next 20 years, with 12,000 participants located within the Castilla y León community.

Driven by the Instituto de Salud Carlos III and managed by the Centro de Investigación Biomédica en Red (CIBER), the study focuses on how genetic, environmental, social, and lifestyle factors influence the development of diseases. Research areas include cardiovascular disease, cancer, diabetes, neurodegenerative disorders, and age-related conditions.

In Castilla y León, the initiative operates through three nodes in the health areas of Salamanca, Valladolid Oeste, and León. Participants, aged 16 to 79, are randomly selected from the populations assigned to participating health centers.
