Castilla y León political groups debate rail infrastructure and housing
The People's Party (PP) has submitted a non-legislative proposal in the Cortes of Castilla y León demanding that the Spanish government provide an updated inventory of pending railway infrastructure and a specific execution calendar. The proposal specifically targets the province of Zamora, calling for the restoration of AVE Galicia-Madrid stops in Segovia, Medina del Campo, Zamora, and Puebla de Sanabria, as well as the implementation of early morning train services to Madrid and the reopening of the Ruta de la Plata.
Separately, during a plenary session, the UPL party criticized the regional government's management of the housing crisis in León, describing it as a ‘black period’. UPL representative Alicia Gallego argued that housing costs are driving demographic expulsion and social fracture. In response, Isabel Blanco, second Vice President of the Junta de Castilla y León, defended the administration's record, citing investments exceeding 900 million euros, including 571 million euros from own funds and 54 million euros for rental assistance programs.
