Castilla y León prepares for Jacobeo 2027 and major cultural anniversaries

The tourism sector in Castilla y León is preparing for several major cultural milestones, most notably the Jacobeo 2027 celebrations. During the Day of Tourism in Lerma, Alberto Díaz Pico, the Counselor of Culture, Tourism, and Sport, identified three key anniversaries that will define the region's international projection and economic activity: the Jacobeo 2027, the 500th anniversary of the birth of King Felipe II, and the 500th anniversary of Santa Teresa de Jesús.

Regional authorities view these events as critical opportunities to leverage historical heritage to boost local economies, particularly in rural areas. The sector is currently showing significant strength, with Turespaña reporting a record high of 83,629 people employed in the tourism sector in Castilla y León as of July, representing a 2.94% increase compared to the previous year.
