Castilla y León proposes new addiction laws and family support budgets
Carlos Pollán, the First Vice President and Counselor of Deregulation, Family, and Social Aid, has presented the 2027 budget proposals for his department to the regional Cortes. The plan includes a significant legislative shift toward addressing 21st-century addictions, moving beyond traditional substance abuse to include non-substance addictions such as gambling, betting, video games, and problematic social media and screen use.
The proposed legislation aims to protect minors through early prevention in schools and family environments. Additionally, the department's budget for 2027 exceeds 457 million euros, with over 182 million euros dedicated to family promotion and child welfare. This includes increased funding for various social benefits, such as the 'Bono Nacimiento' (Birth Bonus), 'Bono Concilia' (Work-Life Balance Bonus), and the 'Bono Infantil' (Child Bonus), intended to assist families with the costs of childcare and work-life balance.
