Castilla y León Senate appointments to be voted on in September

The Cortes of Castilla y León are set to vote on new Senate appointments during the plenary session scheduled for September 10 and 11. The appointments follow the political representation established in recent regional elections.

The Partido Popular (PP) has formally registered Javier Maroto Aranzábal and Francisco Javier Iglesias García as its candidates for regional designation. Maroto, a former Vice President of the Senate and current President of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly's Committee on Democracy and Security, will maintain his seat. Iglesias, the current President of the Provincial Council of Salamanca, is proposed as part of a transition following his upcoming departure from that role.

On the socialist side, the PSOE has designated Clara Martín, the former mayor of Segovia, to represent the region. She will replace Luis Tudanca, the former Secretary General of the PSOE in Castilla y León, who will not renew his position in the Senate or the regional Cortes. These changes mark a shift in the regional political leadership within the upper house.
