Castilla y León tourism grows as León leads regional hotel capacity
The tourism sector in the Castilla y León region of Spain is experiencing significant growth, particularly in the provinces of León and Segovia. León has emerged as a leader in the regional hospitality market, boasting the largest supply of hotel, hostel, and pension accommodations with 12,415 places across 396 establishments. The province also leads in camping and hostel capacities.
In Segovia, rural tourism remains a strong driver. In June, the province recorded 21,822 stays, ranking 11th nationally in occupancy. Segovia's rural sector operates 419 establishments providing 4,282 places. Within the broader Castilla y León region, rural tourism is the second most preferred destination in Spain after the Balearic Islands, recording 151,644 overnight stays in June.
Regional data indicates a general increase in tourism infrastructure. In Castilla y León, the number of tourist establishments rose to 12,837, a 4.16% increase from the previous year. The most dynamic segment is tourist housing, which saw a 10.13% growth in capacity.
