Castilla y León under heat alert as temperatures exceed 37°C

A yellow weather alert has been issued for Valladolid and throughout the Castilla y León region due to extreme temperatures. The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) and the Civil Protection and Emergencies Agency have warned of maximum temperatures exceeding 37 degrees Celsius, with some areas like Medina del Campo and Valladolid expected to reach 38 degrees.

The heatwave coincides with a total solar eclipse and the upcoming August 15 holiday, which are expected to cause high levels of public mobility and crowds. Authorities have reinforced security and emergency services at observation points to manage the influx of people.

Civil Protection and Emergencies recommend that citizens take self-protection measures, such as avoiding outdoor activities during peak heat hours, increasing fluid intake, and avoiding heavy meals.
