Castilla‑La Mancha evaluates wildfire damage to farms in Toledo

On 6 August, regional officials—including Lydia Benítez, director general of Ordenación Agropecuaria; Javier Úbeda, coordinator of the Junta delegation in Toledo; and Elena Martín, provincial delegate for agriculture, livestock and rural development—visited La Iglesuela del Tiétar and nearby evacuated towns such as Almendral de la Cañada and El Real de San Vicente. Their mission was to assess the impact of the forest fire that broke out on 22 July in the Valle del Tiétar, which prompted a level‑3 national emergency and forced the evacuation of multiple municipalities.

The delegation is working with the local agricultural offices (OCAs) of Talavera de la Reina, Torrijos and the technical livestock unit of Almorox to compile data on crop losses, damage to farm infrastructure and rural roads. This information will be used to quantify the total losses and define aid measures for the affected farmers and livestock owners in the coming weeks.
