Castilla‑La Mancha advances agri‑food innovation: new grapes, quality project, award accolades

The autonomous region of Castilla‑La Mancha announced the introduction of 14 new grape varieties to diversify its wine production, aiming to enhance quality, sustainability and market appeal.

The Albacete provincial council launched the “Territorio Tractor de Calidad Alimentaria” programme, a multi‑step initiative that maps regional food quality, creates pathways for differentiated quality systems, promotes innovation and technology transfer, and builds a local gastronomic‑tourism network. The project has cleared the first administrative filter for national ministry funding.

At the 37th Gran Selección Campo y Alma awards, Dehesa El Molinillo received the top prize for extra‑virgin olive oil, produced from 100 % cornicabra olives grown on a century‑old mountain orchard in the Montes de Toledo D.O. The awards, highlighted by the regional government, also celebrated new wine varieties presented by the producer Page, underscoring the region’s commitment to agro‑food excellence.
