Castilla‑La Mancha hosts historic week in Ciudad Real and Dulcinea tour in El Toboso

Ciudad Real will celebrate its 11th Semana Histórica from July 13 to 18, marking the anniversary of the 1195 Battle of Alarcos. The tourism council, led by councilor Cristina Galán, promoted the programme with a video release and organised activities such as an astrolabe workshop for children, an “Alfonsí Star Observation”, theatrical reenactments of King Alfonso VIII’s retreat, guided museum visits, medieval gastronomy tastings, a giant chess exhibition and concerts as part of the concurrent Festival of Ancient and Medieval Music.

In the nearby town of El Toboso, Toledo, local tourism officials encourage visitors to explore attractions linked to Dulcinea from Don Quixote. Highlights include the Cervantino Museum, which displays Don Quixote editions in more than 80 languages, the Graphic Humor Museum devoted to Dulcinea, the historic Casa de Dulcinea, the 17th‑century parish church, and the town’s monastery. The recommended walking route can be completed in a half‑day, with a full day allowing deeper museum visits and cultural immersion.
