Castilla‑La Mancha pharmacy technicians push for official staff category

Pharmacy and para‑pharmacy technicians at the Castilla‑La Mancha Health Service (Sescam) have sent a manifesto to the regional parliament, parliamentary group leaders and the Health Committee demanding the immediate creation of a dedicated technician category in the Sescam staff roster. They also filed a complaint with the Labour and Social Security Inspection, denouncing what they call systematic “job intrusion” where unqualified personnel are tasked with handling, dosing and storing medicines in hospitals.

The technicians point out that Sescam maintains officially published employment pools for hundreds of qualified professionals in Albacete, Ciudad Real, Cuenca, Guadalajara and Toledo, but the positions remain vacant, leaving them in a “limbo” without contracts. Their three urgent requests are: (1) inclusion of a Pharmacy Technician category in the organic staff structure; (2) immediate cessation of assigning pharmacy functions to staff lacking the legally required vocational training; and (3) an urgent audit of hospital pharmacy services to evaluate real staffing needs. The group warns it is ready for legal action and mobilisations if the administration does not respond.
