Castle Map launches featuring thousands of global historical sites

A new interactive “Castle Map” has been released, featuring 7,738 castles, palaces, and fortifications across 141 countries. The tool, which uses data from Wikipedia and OpenFreeMap, allows users to explore historical sites through photos, locations, and brief histories. The Palace of Versailles currently ranks as the most popular site on the map, while Germany’s Neuschwanstein holds the fifth position globally.

Travelers can also explore themed itineraries, such as a European journey through pop-culture-inspired landmarks. This includes France’s Loire Valley, specifically the Château de Chambord, which is noted for its resemblance to settings in Disney films, and Germany’s Neuschwanstein. Neuschwanstein, commissioned by King Ludwig II and recently added to the UNESCO World Heritage list, is also recognized for its appearances in cinematic history.
