Castle of Tordehumos offers historic views in Valladolid

The Castle of Tordehumos, located in the northwest of Valladolid, stands as a significant medieval fortification dating back to the mid-12th century. Situated on the Santa Cristina hill overlooking the Sequillo River, the castle serves as a strategic lookout point in the Tierra de Campos region.

Historically, the site gained prominence under the rule of King Alfonso VIII, who granted the settlement the status of a town. The fortress is notably the site of the signing of the Treaty of Tordehumos, a major pacification agreement mediated by Cardinal Gregorio. Today, the castle is recognized for its panoramic views, offering visibility of the Palentine Mountains and the foothills of the Montes de León.
