Castle Rat performs theatrical medieval metal shows

New York-based doom metal band Castle Rat has been performing live shows as part of a tour supporting their album, ‘The Bestiary’. The band is known for a theatrical performance style that incorporates medieval fantasy elements, costumes, and narrative storytelling.

During recent performances at The Ogden Theater and the Palladium in Worcester, Massachusetts, band members appeared in character: Riley Pinkerton as ‘The Rat Queen’, Franco Vittore as ‘The Count’, Charley Ruddell as ‘The Crow Doctor’ (or ‘The Plague Doctor’), and Joshua Strmic as ‘The Druid’. The shows often feature scripted battles and a highly costumed audience.

Musically, the group blends slow-tempo doom metal with blues-rock inspired riffs, drawing influence from classic heavy metal acts such as Black Sabbath. Their sound is characterized by heavy, fuzz-drenched grooves and atmospheric guitar solos.
