Castle Rock secures new brewery site in Old Basford

Castle Rock has secured planning permission to relocate its brewery from Nottingham city centre to a historic site in Old Basford. The new location is the former home of Murphy & Son, a building originally constructed in 1891 for the Prince of Wales Brewery that served as a working brewery until the early 20th century.

The move follows the sale of Castle Rock’s current brewery site, which was made public in November 2024. The company’s existing lease at the city-centre location is set to expire in March 2027. While a specific relocation date has not been announced, the company is currently developing plans for the transition.

Castle Rock expressed excitement about returning the historic site to its original purpose. The company also noted it remains optimistic about retaining the Old Cold Store and the back garden of its current premises under the existing lease. The relocation comes as the business prepares to celebrate its 50th anniversary as a pub group and 30th anniversary as a brewery in 2027.
