Castleforge and Galaxy Data Centers approve £500m Redhill data centre expansion in Surrey

Castleforge and Galaxy Data Centers have received planning consent from Reigate & Banstead Borough Council to expand the Redhill data centre campus in Surrey. The project will add a two‑storey, 15 MW facility with four new data halls and an office block on the existing 3.1‑hectare Foxboro Business Park site.

The development, valued at around £500 million, follows an initial £100 million‑plus investment made in December 2024 and includes a further £200 million injection. Designed to achieve a BREEAM “Very Good” rating, the centre will incorporate low‑ and zero‑carbon technologies and a waste‑heat recovery system that can supply nearby residential heat networks.

Mike Adcock, head of investments at Castleforge, said, “Demand for capacity in and around London continues to outpace supply, and this consent enables us to bring forward the additional power and scale required to serve enterprise, hyperscale and edge customers.” The Redhill campus already serves Fortune 500 clients in financial services, AI and other sectors, offering secured green energy and low‑latency connectivity to hubs such as Slough and the Docklands. The expansion aims to address surging demand for digital infrastructure in the London market, which is Europe’s largest data‑centre market and the second‑largest globally.
