Castlegar students embark on humanitarian mission to Honduras
Twelve Interact students from Stanley Humphries Secondary School have begun a three-week humanitarian mission to Honduras. Accompanied by members of the Castlegar Rotary, the group of students aged 14 to 17 is scheduled to be in the country from August 13 to 31.
In Comayagua, the students will focus on infrastructure upgrades at three local schools. These projects include installing clean water systems and a new well pump, building playgrounds, painting classrooms, and constructing a covered outdoor area. The mission also includes traveling to remote mountain villages via 4x4 vehicles and ATVs to deliver food, clothing, and gifts to families with limited resources.
The group will also visit the HELP Honduras offices in Tegucigalpa to learn about the development and sustainability of Rotary-supported international projects.
