Castro pilates center accident leaves woman with facial impalement

A woman approximately 60 years old was seriously injured following an accident at a pilates center in Castro, Los Lagos region. The incident occurred on Tuesday at a facility located on Caupolicán Street when the woman reportedly fell onto a metal bar of an exercise machine.

The accident resulted in a metal object becoming impaled in her face at the level of her nose. Emergency responders, including the Fourth Rescue Company of Castro Firefighters, were called to the scene. To free the woman, firefighters had to remove screws from the exercise machine.

Sebastián Schmölz, head of SAMU Chiloé, reported that the patient was evaluated and stabilized on-site. She remained conscious with stable vital signs throughout the procedure and was subsequently transported to the Hospital de Castro for specialized medical attention.
