Castro Verde to host fifth Festival Castro Mineiro in September

The municipality of Castro Verde will hold the fifth edition of the Festival Castro Mineiro from 4 to 6 September in the Parque da Liberdade. Organized in partnership with Boliden Somincor, the concessionaire of the nearby Neves‑Corvo mine, the free‑admission event celebrates the town’s mining heritage and its ongoing contribution to the local economy.

The programme mixes cultural and educational activities: concerts by Sonido Andaluz, Soraia Ramos and Celina da Piedade, conferences, exhibitions, traditional Alentejo folk singing, wine tastings and local food stalls. The festival aims to showcase the identity of a community shaped by mining while fostering community interaction, innovation and tourism.
