Castrol cooling fluids validated for NVIDIA AI infrastructure

Castrol has announced that two of its direct-to-chip (D2C) cooling fluids, Castrol ON PG25 and PG25T, have been validated to meet NVIDIA requirements for AI factory and data centre infrastructure.

As AI and high-performance computing increase processing density, they generate significant heat that often exceeds the capabilities of air cooling. The validated fluids are designed for use in closed-loop liquid cooling systems, where they circulate through cold plates attached to CPUs and GPUs. This method aims to minimize evaporative water loss and improve water usage effectiveness (WUE).

The validation process included a technical review of corrosion resistance, thermal stability, propylene glycol base-fluid purity, and compatibility with various wetted materials such as metals and plastics. The review also assessed Castrol’s global supply-chain resilience.
