Castrolanda inaugurates permanent exhibition celebrating 75 years
The Castrolanda cooperative has inaugurated a permanent exhibition titled ‘A Grande Árvore da Memória’ (The Great Tree of Memory) in Castro, Brazil. The immersive display commemorates the cooperative's 75-year history and the development of the local Dutch immigrant community.
Using a tree as a central symbol to represent roots, growth, and continuity, the exhibition combines historical documents, photographs, and interactive elements. Cooperative president Willem Bouwman stated that the project aims to transmit the organization's history, principles, and values to future generations of associates and employees.
The exhibition design involved landscape architect Dorothi de Geus Bouwman, while long-time employee Popke Ferdinand van der Vinne assisted in selecting historical records to preserve the community's narrative.
