Castrovillari Mayor seeks restoration of 24-hour hospital services
The Mayor of Castrovillari, Anna De Gaio, is calling for institutional collaboration to improve services at the local Ferrari hospital. Following a unanimous city council resolution on August 3, the administration is seeking to ensure the full functionality of the Castrovillari Spoke and its emergency units.
A primary objective is the restoration of the hemodynamics service to 24-hour operation, as it currently only functions for six hours a day. De Gaio emphasized that restoring this service is vital for the entire Pollino area, which serves over 50,000 users.
However, the administration noted significant challenges in achieving this goal, specifically a shortage of specialized hemodynamics doctors. This scarcity complicates the recruitment process necessary to maintain full service. The local government intends to continue dialogue with provincial health management and regional authorities, including President Roberto Occhiuto and Health Commission President Angelo Brutto, to address these healthcare emergencies.
