Cat shootings reported in Sirone and Capitana, Italy

In the town of Sirone, a two‑year‑old cat named Kaly died after being struck by a lead pellet fired from an air‑rifle. The owners said the animal vomited and showed no external bleeding before the pellet was discovered on radiographs. Kaly’s death was confirmed at the Valcurone veterinary clinic, and the family filed a complaint, citing a possible violation of Italy’s animal‑killing law.

In nearby Capitana, a cat called Spolverino survived a similar shooting after veterinarians at the Cabboi clinic removed a bullet from its body. Volunteers who rescued the animal warned that the incident may not be isolated, noting other reported cases in the area. They have called for witnesses to come forward and have lodged a police report to investigate the attacks, which they describe as a serious threat to local cats.
