Cataguases police arrest two men for suspected burglaries

Two men, aged 28 and 42, were arrested in Cataguases following the issuance of preventive arrest warrants by the local Criminal Court. The arrests follow investigations led by Delegate Marcelo Manna into a series of property crimes.

The 28-year-old suspect is investigated for two burglaries occurring within a two-day period in late August. Security footage captured the suspect breaking into a snack bar in the city center to steal cash, as well as an attempted break-in at a popcorn stand using various objects and a stone to break a padlock.

Police officials noted a significant increase in burglaries targeting commercial establishments, residences, and public buildings, including the City Hall. Authorities have intensified investigations to address the rising insecurity caused by these nighttime crimes.
