Catalan cities see record number of chestnut stalls for Castanyada

The four major demarcation capitals in Catalonia will host a record 169 chestnut street stalls this autumn for the Castanyada celebrations. Official data from municipal councils indicates that the number of authorized sales points has reached its highest level since before the pandemic.

Girona leads the region with a record 79 stalls, coinciding with the Fires de Sant Narcís. Barcelona follows with 64 authorized stalls, a significant increase from 29 in 2013; approximately one-third of these are located in the Sant Martí district. Tarragona has authorized 18 stalls, while Lleida will host 8.
