Catalan cultural festivals FiraTàrrega and Terra de Trobadors begin
Several cultural festivals are taking place in Catalonia this September. In Tàrrega, the 46th edition of FiraTàrrega begins on September 10 and runs until September 13. The event features 57 performing arts shows, with 72% of the programming taking place in public streets and 7% in unconventional spaces. The festival hosts approximately 1,300 professionals from various countries, including Germany, Austria, Belgium, South Korea, France, Ireland, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, and Tunisia. The inaugural performance, ‘Incontinuo’ by the Catalan company Kamchàtka, focuses on the experience of displacement.
Meanwhile, Castelló d'Empúries is hosting the 34th edition of the Terra de Trobadors festival from September 11 to 13. This year’s edition is dedicated to Guillem Escarrer (1266-1321), a figure associated with Castelló d'Empúries who served the Crown of Aragon. The festival includes over 200 activities, such as historical recreations, music, conferences, and a medieval market with 80 stalls and 12 taverns. Programming includes the production ‘El Romanç de Guillem Escarrer’ and academic sessions organized in collaboration with the University of Girona.
