Catalan education platform calls for reduced screen use in schools

The platform ‘Aixeca el cap’ has called on the Department of Education to accelerate measures to reduce screen use in Catalan educational centers. During a appearance before the Parliament's Education Commission, the entity warned that banning mobile phones in high schools is insufficient.

The platform is requesting an immediate review of all digital devices provided to students. Key proposals include removing screens from early childhood education and eliminating individual computers for upper primary school students. For secondary education, they suggest maintaining laptops within school facilities rather than providing them for individual student use.

Additionally, the group advocates for a broader regulation of the digital environment and has called for the postponement of artificial intelligence implementation in classrooms to rethink the role of technology in learning.
