Catalan initiatives target youth mental health and wellbeing

Various health and wellbeing initiatives are being launched in Catalonia to support youth mental health and promote responsible consumption.

Parc Central shopping center has partnered with the ANAR Foundation for the ‘Queda’t una estona’ (Stay a while) campaign. Aimed at raising awareness for youth mental health, the initiative encourages people to prioritize quality time and real-world connections to combat the pressures of hyperconnectivity. This follows data from the ANAR Foundation showing that 51.8% of inquiries made to their help lines by minors are related to mental health issues.

In Girona, the City Council is introducing new preventive measures for the Sant Narcís Fairs. These include the ‘Espai Cuida’t’, a dedicated space for sexual health and reproductive rights, and the introduction of ‘Siset 0,0’, a non-alcoholic cocktail available at all festival stalls to promote healthier consumption. The city also plans to distribute educational materials and bracelets to 5,000 students to encourage safe and inclusive participation in the festivities.
