Catalan language covers 42% of daily digital uses

The Galàxia Report, published by Accent Obert, reveals that the Catalan language covers approximately 42% of daily digital uses. The study analyzed 342 web tools across 11 sectors and 70 digital uses.

While Catalan shows strong presence in maps and mobility (77%) and digital communication (72%), significant gaps remain in content creation (19%) and artificial intelligence (29%). Although only 99 of the 342 analyzed tools offer a Catalan interface, many high-traffic platforms such as Google, WhatsApp, Canva, and Microsoft Office are included in that group.

The report notes that major platforms like LinkedIn, Instagram, CapCut, Duolingo, and Reddit offer services in languages with similar speaker numbers to Catalan but do not provide Catalan options. This is attributed to corporate priorities rather than technical limitations. Genís Roca, president of Accent Obert, stated that while progress is being made, there is a need to accelerate digital language protection.
