Catalan language promotion through literature and social programs

Efforts to promote and normalize the use of the Catalan language are being addressed through both psychological literature and institutional programming.

Psychologists Ferran Suay and Gemma Sanginés have released a guide titled ‘Sortir de l'armari lingüístic’, which analyzes the social and psychological stresses faced by Catalan speakers. The book provides practical advice on improving linguistic behavior, overcoming prejudices, and navigating situations where the language is marginalized in social interactions.

Simultaneously, the Consorci per a la Normalització Lingüística (CPNL) has launched the ‘El català, compartit’ program as part of its 2026-2028 action plan. This initiative aims to reinforce Catalan in social spaces such as cultural facilities, sports installations, and leisure activities. The program includes linguistic advisory services, staff training to encourage natural language use, and the creation of conversation networks within community centers.
