Catalan legal bodies warn of risks in court staffing and property occupation reforms

The Consell de l’Advocacia Catalana sent a letter to Alicia Corral, secretary of Administration and Public Function of the Generalitat, urging that any reorganisation of court staff consider the impact on the functioning of the courts and the quality of public justice. It warned that “the accumulated experience and specialised knowledge of personnel represent an essential asset” and called for careful planning to preserve service continuity.

Separately, the College of Property Administrators of Barcelona‑Lleida (CAFBL) urged a change to the civil code so that owners’ associations can intervene in cases of illegal occupations that threaten safety and community well‑being. President Lorenzo Viñas said, “This is not against property rights; it is about strengthening property for the benefit of neighbours and ensuring a healthy coexistence,” citing a recent incident on Carrer de Muntaner involving a suspected drug‑related squat that caused noise, fights and fear among residents.
