Catalan literary festivals and language defense highlighted in regional events

Various literary events and festivals are highlighting Catalan language and literature across Spain. The 37th Setmana del Llibre en Català in Palma featured an inaugural speech by Carles Rebassa, who emphasized the importance of using the Catalan language in daily life as a democratic act.

In Barcelona, the Setmana del Llibre en Català continues with diverse activities, including a significant presence from the Institut d'Estudis Baleàrics to promote Balearic publishers and authors. The event also featured a book presentation by poet Dolors Miquel, hosted by artist Miquel Barceló.

Other regional literary gatherings include the 15th Mercat de Lletres in Igualada, featuring Francesc Torralba and Care Santos, and the fourth edition of Sant Miquel de les Lletres in Lleida, which offers six days of literary dialogues, poetry, and oral storytelling.
