Spanish municipalities implement new urban mobility and parking measures
Various municipalities in Spain are implementing new measures to improve urban mobility and infrastructure. In Maria de la Salut, the local government is replacing outdated parking signage that used the term “minusválidos” with more inclusive language, such as “personas con movilidad reducida” (people with reduced mobility).
In Vic, the City Council has approved a project to install eight information panels at city entrances to indicate the availability of approximately 3,200 free parking spaces, aiming to improve traffic flow and efficiency. Meanwhile, Castellón is conducting information campaigns regarding its new sustainable mobility ordinance, focusing on the use of electric scooters, bicycles, and low-emission zones.
Dénia has completed its transition to a fully ecological urban bus fleet, which now includes six hybrid and one electric vehicle. Additionally, in Castellón, the Generalitat Valenciana is promoting a carpooling model at Jaume I University to assist students with limited public transport options, proposing incentives such as preferential campus parking for high-occupancy vehicles.
