Catalonia prepares for Diada National commemorations and political mobilization
Various municipalities across Catalonia are preparing institutional acts for the upcoming Diada Nacional de Catalunya. In Igualada, the commemoration begins on September 9 with a lecture by historian Jaume Clotet Planas, followed by a solemn ceremony including the raising of the Senyera. Vilafranca del Penedès will host historian Jordi Vidal Pla for a lecture on the historical reflections of September 11, while Manlleu has scheduled an institutional act featuring political scientist Enric Castellnou and a traditional march to Vic.
In Verges, the celebrations will honor the 125th anniversary of the birth of writer Maria Perpinyà i Sais through literary readings.
On a broader political level, Josep Vila, the president of the Assemblea Nacional Catalana (ANC), has stated that social independence movement is gaining momentum. He expressed a desire for the Diada to serve as a turning point, moving away from past divisions toward a more proactive and hopeful era. The ANC plans decentralized mobilizations in Barcelona, Girona, and Amposta to advocate for independence and address social concerns.
