Inipro corruption trial begins in Tarragona

The trial for the Inipro case, involving alleged corruption within the political environment of the PSC in Tarragona, has commenced in the Provincial Court of Tarragona. The case focuses on nine defendants, including former mayor Josep Fèlix Ballesteros, who faces a prosecution request of up to five years and eight months in prison.

A central point of contention in the trial is the validity of a hard drive from the Municipal Institute of Social Services (IMSST). Defense lawyers are demanding its exclusion, arguing that the chain of custody was broken and fundamental rights to privacy and communication were violated. They claim an IT technician took the device home for repairs before handing it to the Civil Guard, allowing unauthorized access to sensitive municipal information and emails.

The prosecution seeks prison sentences for the nine accused, while several entities, including the PSC and companies Inipro and Itineres Serveis Educatius, are named as potential civil liabilities.
