Catalan political movements respond to far-right rise
Political shifts in Catalonia and North Catalonia are being shaped by the rise of far-right movements. In Catalonia, the growth of Aliança Catalana is noted as a challenge to traditional parties, which some argue have failed to address core public concerns such as immigration, security, housing, and the collapse of public services.
In North Catalonia, the political group Unitat Catalana is seeking to renew its local political offering to counter the far-right wave. Co-president Mateu Pons-Serradeil aims to implement a new strategy to present the party as an acceptable political force within the French system, focusing on local issues and the defense of Catalan language and culture.
