Tàrrega homicide: Juvenile sentenced to six years of confinement

A juvenile court in Lleida has sentenced a young man to six years of confinement and two years of supervised release for the August 2025 homicide of 18-year-old Juan Guerrero in Tàrrega. The defendant, who was 17 at the time of the incident, reached a plea agreement with the prosecution and the victim's family.

The sentence includes a requirement to pay 241,000 euros in civil liability, to be shared with his parents. Because the crime was committed while he was a minor, the individual will be placed in a juvenile justice educational center in Lleida rather than a standard prison.

The victim's mother, Silvia Guerrero, expressed deep dissatisfaction with the ruling, describing it as ‘unjust’ and criticizing the fact that the perpetrator would not serve time in a traditional prison facility.
