Catalan social entities demand priority for poverty reduction

The Taula d’entitats del Tercer Sector Social de Catalunya is calling for the reduction of vulnerability to become a top political priority. Despite positive macroeconomic indicators, nearly 25% of the Catalan population lives in situations of poverty, exclusion, or inequality.

The organization emphasizes the need to align social service investment with fundamental pillars such as healthcare and education. They are advocating for the use of upcoming budgetary opportunities, new financing models, and the forgiveness of the Fons de Liquiditat Autonòmic (FLA) debt to increase social spending.

Key areas identified for increased funding include dignified housing, dependency care, universal benefits for children to combat child poverty—which affects one in three children—and the updating of the Catalonia Sufficiency Income Index (IRSC).
