Catalan social programs support youth education and mentorship
Social initiatives in Catalonia are focusing on supporting youth through education and professional development. In Terrassa, the Mentora program is launching its fourth edition for the 2026-2027 school year. Driven by the Equitat.org foundation, the initiative seeks adult volunteers to act as informal mentors for adolescents at risk of dropping out of school. These mentors provide guidance and companionship through weekly meetings and activities to help students reflect on their future.
Separately, Aigües de Barcelona and the Confederation of Neighborhood Associations of Catalonia (CONFAVC) are celebrating ten years of the ‘Beques Joves Talents’ scholarship program. Since 2016, the program has provided university scholarships to 50 talented young people with limited economic resources, primarily in STEM fields. The initiative aims to reduce social and economic barriers to higher education, with many recipients currently studying at public universities in Catalonia.
