Catalan urban music groups expand live performances with full bands

Urban music groups in Catalonia are increasingly moving away from minimalist stage setups, such as a single singer and a DJ, in favor of larger live bands and traditional instrumentation. Groups like Figa Flawas have expanded from two performers to touring with 11 musicians to enhance their live shows and better fit the requirements of major local festivals.

This shift is also seen in major international acts; for example, Rosalía has transitioned from controversial minimalist performances to touring with approximately twenty musicians from the Heritage Orchestra. Industry professionals suggest this trend is driven by a desire to renew the genre and a growing audience demand for the energy and unpredictability of live musicianship.
