Catalina Resources plans high‑grade drilling at Pithara Gold Mine

Catalina Resources Ltd (ASX:CTN) has commenced a 26‑hole, 3,120 m reverse‑circulation drilling program at the historic Pithara Gold Mine in Western Australia. The campaign follows the first comprehensive geological reinterpretation since mining stopped in 2011, which identified a north‑south shearing zone and multiple high‑grade extensions beyond the historic pit.

Historical production at Pithara totaled about 9,000 oz of gold at an average grade of 15.4 g/t Au, with past drill intersections of up to 7 m @ 21.8 g/t and 2 m @ 61.5 g/t. Integrated mapping, modern geophysics, and surface geochemistry were used to develop the revised exploration model. Land access and the program of work have been approved, and heritage due‑diligence is near completion. Executive Director Ross Cotton said the work shows “considerable untapped exploration potential beyond the historical pit.”
